Crucial Timelines for 2027 Intake
Unlike many other scholarships, the Chevening cycle begins almost a full year in advance. For the 2027/2028 academic year, the application window officially opened on August 4, 2026. The absolute deadline to submit your online application is Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 UTC. Late submissions are strictly not accepted.
Do I Need an English Language Test for Chevening?
Interestingly, Chevening removed its English language requirement for the scholarship application itself. However, you will still need to meet the English language requirements (like IELTS, PTE, or Duolingo) of your chosen UK universities to get your unconditional offer letter. Always double-check your target university's specific requirements.
Can I stay in the UK after my Chevening Scholarship?
No. A strict condition of the Chevening Scholarship is that you must return to your home country for a minimum of two years after your scholarship ends. If you intend to stay in the UK on a Post-Study Work (PSW) or Graduate visa immediately after your studies, Chevening is not the right fit for you.
